What fantastic weather!! So naturally, out came the paints! I went with gouache this time, it was good fun but it'll take a bit of getting used to. Whereas with acrylic is easy for things to get too dark too quickly, with gouache it seemed to be the opposite. I was actually struggling to get my darks dark enough. I don't usually use black from a tube but I may have to, I'll see.
I spent a couple of hours on the first one. For the second on I only had an hour so it's not really finished.

Cool, St Martha's, and with a conviently placed ice-cream seller too. Sounds perfect on a day like today. Love the light through the beech leaves.
Nice work Annes,
More usefully; Try using Paynes Grey instead of Black. It's less severe, easier to get the tone you want and doesn't swallow up colours like black can.
I've been to St. Marthas!
You captured it perfectly!
